Hi everyone! My name is Kim Lenhart and this is my first year at Autism Academy. As of last month I recently moved to Tempe from the great state of Illinois. I spent a majority of my life in Illinois but I knew it was time to change things up. I graduated from Northern Illinois University with my degree in Special Education…go huskies! I spent a lot of time throughout college tutoring, providing respite care for children with special needs, and landing my first job out of college teaching within a behavioral-emotional focused classroom at a public middle school. Change is something that not very many people can honestly say they are a fan of, but for me, change is exciting and exhilarating. Outside of teaching, I love to explore all new places, meet new people, and try so many new things. Due to my love for change and exploration, I love to travel! Last summer I spent a month in Taiwan where I was fortunate enough to land an internship–teaching elementary-aged kids how to speak and write in English. This really opened my eyes to the world outside of Illinois and truly show me just how much is out there waiting for me to discover. Other than travel and trying new things, you can find me paddle boarding, lounging by the pool, at the gym, or especially at the nearest bubble tea café. Here’s to a great year at A+ Academy!
