Occupational Therapist Position

OT Job Responsibilities: The following duties and job description are not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of an employee

  • Direct and supervise COTAs as assigned
  • Assist the COTA and Classroom Teachers in devising strategies for reinforcing learning materials and skills based on a sympathetic understanding of individual students, their needs, interests, and abilities
  • Recommend instructional / therapeutic materials and supplies for therapy use
  • Consult with team and contact parent prior to IEP meeting to inform of progress and updated proposed goals / services
  • Measure and report on student progress and prepare quarterly progress reports

Physical Demands May Include:  

  • Lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling
  • Assist with lifting, holding or positioning students with disabilities (including physical, behavioral, learning, etc.)
  • Sitting or stooping on the floor for extended periods of time
  • Standing or bending over repeatedly throughout the day
  • Outside duties (assist with car line, field trips, and supervising students on playground)
  • Must work well in noisy and crowded environments
  • Independent mobility to move about the classroom and campus throughout the day.
  • Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus

Qualifications, Requirements and Skills:

  • Degree / Certificate in Occupational Therapy from a college or university with accredited Occupational Therapy program
  • Current License / Certification issued by State of Arizona Board of Occupational Therapy Examiners
  • 1-2 years minimum experience supervising COTAs preferred
  • Experience with augmentative and alternative communication devices preferred
  • Valid Arizona fingerprint clearance card
  • Effective and professional communication
  • Maintain professionalism and confidentiality at all times
  • Critical thinking skills and problem solving
  • Strong computer skills
  • Maintain consistent attendance and punctuality 

Hours: This position is part-time

Pay Range: $40-$80 per hour, depending on education and experience
